We now learn that McDonald’s will be the only food entity allowed to sell brand-name food at the London Olympics and that the hamburger chain is building its largest franchise to date in London’s Olympic village. The mega-structure will be a two-story, cathedral-like building that seats 1,500. The franchise’s exclusively branded menu at the Olympics will include Big Macs, fries, and shakes. (“Would you like a serving of irony with that?”) There will be three McDonald’s restaurants at the Olympic Park and one within the athletes’ village. A British doctors’ group has weighed in, declaring that the fast-food sponsorship sends a dangerous message to a country facing an obesity crisis.
I'm hoping that McDonald's will at least include one of their tiny lettuce salads on the menu...and here in the States, many call ketchup a "vegetable," so maybe things aren't so bad.... (Just kidding.)
