Cunard runs its Queen Mary 2 on these crossings, offering stateside departures from New York City and Brit/Euro ports at Southampton, England, and Hamburg, Germany. If you're wary of cruises because you've heard tales of dress codes and fancy-schmancy dinners and that's not your thing...well, no fear! It's true that QM2 has "formal nights" and "semi-formal nights," where diners are required to gussy up appropriately to eat in the ship's big dining rooms. (And Cunard does enforce its dress code!) However, renegades who demand the comfort of jeans may eat in smaller cafes designated by the the ship. And frankly, parties thrown by the ragtag, renegade misfits can be infinitely more fun than the formal affairs. (Think "Upstairs, Downstairs.") Room service is also an option.
